The girl who wanted to live

THE GIRL WHO WANTED TO LIVE
Why would anyone get addicted to something that gives you a temporary feeling of numbness and happiness? Why are these people not tough enough to face the world without a drug addiction?
Kiara’s best friend was dealing with a drug addiction. It seemed normal for everyone but her. At first it was a big thing for her because even the word smoking was a no-no for her.  She was trying to figure out the new “high-ways” of this age. She knew what was right what was wrong and she obviously knew how her friend was hell bent upon ruining her life.
Kiara wanted to try everything in life. She had tried smoking and it was quite evident that she didn’t like it. She wanted to help her friend out.
Her friend Alisha was a very unique and talented girl. She was beautiful. She had this charm in her that attracted people towards her. She had long shiny hair and the most expressive eyes. She was very creative and intelligent. She knew her way with words and the best of all, she knew how to lie. She was good at lying, making up stories and giving excuses.
Alisha was just seventeen when she smoked her first joint. Kiara didn’t know her at that time and had no clue that her entry would change her life as well. They both met in college, their last year in college. Everyone was mature enough to differentiate from the good and bad. Kiara never liked Alisha smoking up and according to Alisha it was just a joint of weed. It all starts from here. Just one drag of cigarette, just one sip of alcohol, just one drag of a joint, just one lie. Kiara knew Alisha in and out and she knew to what extent she could go with her excuses.
Kiara tried stopping her, tried explaining things to her, tried talking her out of it and it did work out in a way. She did try making her do things that didn’t make her think of weed or cigarettes or partying like a crazy freak. She just wanted her out of it. She wanted her to use her talent and get involved with better things. She was there for her whenever she needed her.
Alisha was avoiding abusing drugs and was facing a relapse day by day. It was really difficult for her family. All they could do is just be there for her. They were trying their best to support her. Kiara was making her meet old friends. She did speak up one day, “I am sorry Kiara. I even need to apologise to my family because I know I ruined my life. I am sorry for every damn second of hope where you felt that I won’t lie. I am sorry for saying no for rehab. I am ready to go, I don’t want everyone to suffer because of me.”
Kiara was happy that evening after Alisha promised her that she will visit the rehab. She came back home happy and content. Kiara knew she would get the best sleep that night because her best friend had finally gotten some sense.
Kiara did sleep well and so did Alisha. The only difference was Kiara woke up and Alisha never did. Alisha died in her sleep. No one knows how, why, when? They all know that she was ready to give another chance to her life but life had a few other plans.
It takes time to forget people who you know had a lot in them to make it big in life. Kiara never remembers her as the drug addict who passed away in her sleep. She remembers Alisha as a young, talented chirpy girl who got lost trying to search for herself. A girl with big dreams and a little hope from life. A girl who loved her people. A girl who had lots to say but had just little time. A girl who wanted to live…

Here's to the Past

Here’s to the Past What do you do when you fall for the perfect guy? Date him? Marry him? What do you do when you fall for the not-so perfect guy? Give it a shot? Forget about him? What do you do when you fall for a Guy who according to you is perfect but not according to the traditions, religion, and both your families? Forget the world and date him (or marry him) OR Forget him and keep the traditions, religions and family happy? Well Kiara did the latter. She had the perfect guy for her but had to let go because her family, traditions and religion wasn’t happy. She felt happy in his arms, she was in love with his silence, she genuinely laughed at his wit, she dreamed of waking up next to him every morning, she loved him he loved her, she was happy so was he but the world wasn’t. It was the first day of college. A new step towards life. A little more freedom given by God to you for you to let go off everything and just enjoying life by taking a few decisions on your own. Long Distance

That night I actually didn’t sleep. I knew I had to talk to kabir about it. Ever since our relationship status had changed to a long distance relationship things had changed. Phone calls from every minute had changed to hardly talking for a minute, text messages had conversations filled with both of us replying to each other saying, “ Busy baby BRB”. I heard the crows crowing and the birds chirping at around 5:30. The cold December morning still made me get up from bed and grab a cigarette. Lighting the cigarette with the old pink lighter that was a gift from kabir I covered myself with my blanket. Taking the 1 st puff I went back to the memory lane at the time when kabir had called me in excitement, “hey baby!! Have a big surprise. Meet me for dinner tonight? Mainland china? 9? I’ll pick you up! This dinner is special. Love you baby cya!” After this call I had made up my mind that he was going to propose! I knew it all this while because he was talking a lot about marriage and our ...

Avenge

He furiously told her,“Let’s even the score. You hurt me a lot of times I have even lost count.” She thought it was true love and concrete friendship but all he wanted was to avenge the pain of his broken heart. For her friendship was, never having to say goodbye. For him? It did not matter, he had already said goodbye.  - Samanah. Rizvi
