A perfect life
Kiara didn’t have permanent plans. She made a few commitments in her
childhood which were now obligatory for her. If not obligatory, she
just didn’t want to break people’s hearts with those false promises.
In her innocence she always told her family and friends that she wants
to become a doctor. She was obviously unknown to the fact that she
will have to bury her head in those fat huge books. Since the decision
was made she decided to give it a try.
Kiara was a beautiful young girl. She was perfectly tall and had a
very pretty smile. Her dimples added the final touch to that smile. If
she would ever become a dentist she would be the most beautiful one.
Kiara never thought of her own dreams. Her family made decisions for
her based on her innocent statements. They did support her with
everything they could. She was just a gorgeous girl next door trying
to fulfil dreams for her family and somewhere for herself. She was a
girl who wanted to fall in love with the perfect guy (who does not
exist). She wanted to know how it feels like to be loved. Those daily
soaps, those good-looking celebrities were a part of her description
of a perfect guy. This is the story of kiara. A beautiful aspiring
dentist, a girl whose life changed when she realised what life was.
Kiara was shocked when she was introduced to the syllabus and study
course. Her expressions went blank when her professor was talking in a
total different language. ‘I think we should just stick to B.com, what
say kiara?’ Her friend Nicole tried getting her back from the shock.
Kiara woke up to reality and tried agreeing with Nicole. But somewhere
down the line her heart was still stuck with her family dreams. ‘Did
you just see the book in his hand? I can give it to my boyfriend to
work on his biceps! Kiara it’s not too late. Think!’ Kiara was trying
to convince her heart and head that this is it and now there is no way
out of it. She knew she could always back out but she didn’t want to.
Her friend Nicole was her childhood friend. She was studying dentistry
because Kiara was doing it. They always were together in every class.
That was one thing that was still motivating her to go to college.
Kiara’s life had completed changed. From her lavish bedroom with all
the luxuries she would be staying in a box room with a single cot. She
shared her room with Nicole and it was obvious that Kiara wouldn’t let
her back out of this decision of theirs.
After a lot of thinking Kiara spoke up, ‘Listen Nicole, we already did
talk about this. Now that we have jumped into the pool just try
swimming and saving yourself. It’s too late to say that you can’t
swim! I am having second thoughts as well but let’s just be there for
each other. ‘She took a deep breath and just smiled at Nicole. She
knew that Nicole wouldn’t leave and that they would always be together
and she was right.
These few years of her studies would involve a lot of hard-work and
the utmost dedication. She didn’t want to let anything distract her.
Life was difficult for the two of them trying to get over the fact
that they had nearly 5 years of studies. Kiara wasn’t getting enough
time to go home and meet her family. She used to get disconcerted
being away from there. Nicole used to taunt her and tell her, ‘Kiara
we are already in the pool you are drowning! Swim! Swim!’ Kiara would
always animatedly roll her eyes and ignore Nicole’s talks.
Time flew by and they had already completed two years trying to
survive. There were many distractions like her cousin’s wedding,
family picnics, cute flirty interns at college and loneliness of being
single. The interns were young and big flirts. Kiara was beautiful so
she always got the added or rather unwanted attention. Her mind was
too blocked to even think of falling in love. Though it was lonely
being single. Nicole’s endless skype calls with her boyfriend used to
make Kiara take long walks around the campus. She had also developed a
hobby of clicking random photos with a Dslr her father had gifted her.
She clicked pictures of flowers, leafless trees, different shapes of
clouds and anything and everything that made her feel like a
professional photographer.
One evening when she was focussing on a lotus near the pond she heard
someone say, ‘Try using the macro feature, it will be a good shot.’
She turned around to see who this Mr Expert was and spotted Dr. Kabir
an intern. She smiled back and waved out to him. She was blushing
naturally because he was the cutest intern according to Nicole and
her. ‘I am not an expert but my friend is a photographer he keeps
teaching me these technical terms. It’s good to impress girls with a
little more knowledge than just teeth and gums,’ He said. He made her
click pictures of him posing funnily. They spoke a lot. He was
explaining his plans stating, “I have been waiting for a long time to
start my own dental clinic and I will once I am done with my
internship. The plans are on. Once I settle down I will look around
for a beautiful girl and fulfil my mother’s dream.’ They discussed
each other’s plans. He explained to her the benefits of being a
dentist and made her eager to know more. For the first time Kiara was
happy with her career decision.
She returned to her room with a big grin and told Nicole about
everything. ‘Dr Kabir? The cute intern? He spoke to you? Seriously? I
am coming with you for your walks now. I need to approve of your
future boyfriend or husband or whatever you take him as!’ Kiara
laughed and laughed that day. Her day went beautiful and she was
looking forward to bumping into him every day. Things were better
than her first two years. She would wake up with a smile daily and be
interested in every lecture. She kept meeting Kabir in the evenings.
They exchanged numbers and a few flirty remarks. She was smiling, she
was in love!
She received a message from him that read- how about lunch together
followed by a drive? We can escape a little from this gummy
environment. She replied saying- See you at 2:30 after my lectures.
They met according to the plan and he made her laugh as much as he
used to whenever they met. While driving he just casually asked, ‘Do
you want to meet my family? They would love to meet you.’ She was
surprised to hear that but he eventually convinced her. Meeting his
family was a big thing. They were really happy to see her especially
his mother and sister. After a long family time they left for the
university. ‘My family loved you as I had expected. I just needed an
approval from them.’ Saying that Kabir stopped the car held Kiara’s
hand and said, ‘I am fond of you; your smile was the first thing that
attracted me towards you. I make you laugh and smile because I get to
adore that smile of yours. Would you like to spend a little more time
with me? Would you make me meet your family so that the world
officially knows that you are mine?’ Kiara was expecting something
like this soon but she didn’t expect it to be this cute.
Kabir and Kiara did end up together. Kiara’s life was finally
complete. Both of them did work out a future together. Kiara ended up
being the perfect daughter fulfilling her parent’s dreams, She also
ended up being a perfect dentist and a perfect wife with the most
perfect husband and a perfect life.
